Wayne Ryan, the former legendary Summers County girls’ basketball coach who won six state titles, including five straight in Class AA from 2007 to 2011, was named executive director of the WVSSAC by the board of directors on Tuesday.
Ryan is the current associate executive director, having previously served as assistant director from 2016 to 2023.
He graduated from Hinton High School in 1982 and went on to play baseball at Alderson-Broaddus.
He will begin his new role on July 1, 2025, when current executive director David Prince officially retires.
