HINTON W.Va – A criminal complaint states that on May 3, around 11:32 a.m., an officer received a trespassing call from Summers 911. It was located near Hinton’s Main Street. The caller stated that there was a green SUV parked on his uncle’s property, and that the property owner was out of town, so no one should be on the property.
When the officer arrived, he discovered the green SUV, a Toyota RAV4 with West Virginia registration, parked in the driveway behind the home. As the officer looked around, he reportedly noticed two people exiting the house.
They were identified as Amber Nicole Yancey and Joel Franklin Price. According to the criminal complaint, Yancey and Price informed the officer that they were there to meet another person and collect property from him. They allegedly went on to say that they had loaded items to be dropped off at another location.
The officer then contacted the property’s owner, who confirmed that he did not know the individuals and that they did not have permission to remove items from the home.
The officer found items belonging to the owner in the vehicle, including three boxes of 12×12 tile valued at approximately $120, 14 boxes of 8×8 tile valued at approximately $550, and 24 stair balusters valued at approximately $180.
The total value of everything is approximately $850. Yancey and Price both claimed that the front door was open and that they did not break into the house by force.
