Walmart is under fire after an angry customer took to social media to share their frustration over poor customer service and unresolved issues with an order. The customer claimed they called Walmart’s customer service line a total of nine times over four weeks but received no real solutions. Despite speaking with a manager, the problem remained unresolved. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the customer vented their frustration:
“@Walmart I’ve called your customer service number over issues with an order no less than nine times in four weeks. Each time I’m given a solution that never materializes. Today I’ve called twice and been hung up on even by the so-called manager. Mind you I’ve been calm and respectful so WTF is going on!”
Walmart Apologizes But Issue Remains Unclear
Walmart responded quickly to the post, offering an apology and asking the customer to send a direct message (DM) with more details so they could investigate the issue further. Their response read: “Oh no, that’s not what we like to see! Can you please send us a DM with additional details, so we can look into this?” However, it is still unclear whether the issue was ultimately resolved, leaving many customers questioning the retailer’s commitment to effective customer service.
Growing Frustration Over Walmart Plus Subscription Changes
This incident follows a wave of frustration from Walmart customers over recent changes to the Walmart Plus membership service. Previously, Walmart Plus offered a free Paramount Plus streaming subscription as part of its perks. However, this benefit was recently discontinued, leaving many customers upset.
Shoppers who had signed up for Walmart Plus and enjoyed the Paramount Plus perk found themselves scrambling to cancel their Paramount Plus subscriptions to avoid charges after the service was removed. To make matters worse, several customers complained that when they tried to cancel Paramount Plus through Walmart Plus, it led to the cancellation of their entire Walmart Plus membership. One frustrated customer voiced their concerns on X, writing:
“@Walmart why is it so hard to cancel your Paramount subscription through Walmart plus without canceling your entire subscription? Are they making it harder to do this on purpose?”
What Is Walmart Plus?
Walmart Plus is a membership service that competes directly with Amazon Prime, offering a range of perks for a monthly fee of $12.95 or $98 annually. Benefits include unlimited free deliveries with no order minimum, fuel discounts, the Scan & Go feature for easy in-store shopping, and exclusive member offerings. After a 30-day trial period, subscribers get full access to these services. However, the recent removal of the Paramount Plus subscription has caused many Walmart Plus members to reconsider the value of the service.
The Retailer’s Struggles With Customer Satisfaction
While Walmart has become a household name for affordable shopping, these customer service issues and changes to its membership program have left some consumers frustrated. The retailer’s quick response to the complaints on social media shows it is aware of the backlash but still faces challenges in managing customer expectations, especially as other retailers ramp up their competitive services.
